hard work this..

All seems well with the pups, they are all putting on weight and it seem that Baileys has enough milk coming through to fill them up and get them to sleep. She the has a bit of time to herself for a bit of fuss and a break from the nippers.

There are a few more pics in the gallery - click on the image below:-

Time to get ready for work.

The dust is starting to settle

Adele gets the prize for the best pic of the first few days... Baileys is a very proud mother and isn't happy leaving the puppies for a minute. It's wonderful to see nature at work, Baileys first litter and seems to know what to do in any situation. Nature does have a sense of humour too though, by making us worry unrealistically over the mum and pups - losing plenty of sleep as a result.
Blue, our cat, is unimpressed. Baileys and him got on well before the pups arrived, now Baileys won't let him within arms length of the puppies.
Coffee consumption has gone through the roof and the tv has hardly been on. It looks like its been the nicest weekend weather-wise this year and we've barely left the house. At the same time we wouldn't change it for anything..
There are more photos linked to the website www.pembrokeshire-doodles.co.uk , and the webcam is up and running, but won't be left on all all of the time. It's on the website but cunningly hidden - happy hunting.

It's happened! They're here!!

A snap of the first one out. A baby boy. He arrived at 13:10 this afternoon, followed by 10 brothers and sisters (brothers mostly). Fair play to Baileys, she did it all pretty much for us. The first one brought a tear to the eye and made Baileys wince, and the last one was the biggest of the lot and didn't want to come out.
All the pups seem to be doing well, pretty lively and feeding, but its early days..
Will look to get some pictures together for a photo album. The snaps from today are a bit messy, so we'll give Baileys her dignity and take some more once she's cleaned up.
A very draining 12 hours. I've got the short straw and am keeping an eye on things whilst Adele gets some rest. Lots to do tomorrow - it will be difficult not to get sucked into puppy watching and not let them out of our sight.
Thanks to all who have helped so far, Tanya (a pity one didn't arrive whilst you were here!), Lisa, Fenton Vets and Gemma to name but a few.
Oh well Kizzi, your turn next...

Any time soon...

Have to feel for Baileys at the moment. She really doesn't know what to do with herself. Over the weekend we thought it was all happening (a few days early and before the supplies which were on order arrived - naturally!). Things have calmed down since then, but she's off her food, fairly restless but just gets up walks around in circles for a while and lies back down again..

The wild and wooly weather of the weekend has eased off so she's out in the garden enjoying the sunshine.

The latest project is to get a webcam up and running. At the moment we can watch what's happening downstairs from upstairs. Hopefully by the time the pups arrive we should have puppycam on the website - will see.

The waiting is draining.. come on girl, you can do it!!!

Fun, fun...

All starting to liven up with Baileys now. We're not quite sure when the puppies are due, probably from next week onwards, but there are definite changes with her. Her belly has got puppies moving around in it, she has started producing a bit of milk, and more bizarrely she has started to dig herself in, under a bush in the garden.

Now we're expecting her to start nesting, but not really in the garden. Something we'll have to keep an eye on, especially towards the end of her pregnancy.

It's a real pity she hasn't chosen the bits that need digging over. That veggie patch that Adele wanted could be half dug by now...

A quick "hello" to Annie and Kizzi. They are in the same boat - Kizzi is a beautiful Chocolate Labrador who was at stud at the same time as Baileys. So, anyone looking for labradoodles give a shout and we'll put you in touch with Annie.

Walkies..

Broad Haven at the weekend. A nice day and a short walk to keep Baileys moving. The extra weight is taking its toll, she was happy to walk along with us, no need for a ball to chase, she wasn't even particularly keen to play with other dogs...

There were 2 beautiful poodles at the beach, one black, one white, full coats and looking good.

Crufts...

Saw it on the tv last night, and depending on how things go, we might be up there on the weekend. A few days of mayhem, and a chance for the owners to show their pride and joy to the world.

The technicalities of judging are lost on me. All of the dogs are stunningly presented, although some of the breeds beg the question "why?".

If we do make it there, it will be my first visit, and it looks like it will be a very long day...

Getting bigger...

Baileys showing off her belly and parenting skills, although carrying pups by the leg probably isn't the way to go... Her belly was clipped at the vets so that they could use the ultrasound machine to check that the mother and pups were doing OK. It will also make things much easier when the pups are born - any ladies out there with hairy chests, please take note!

Around 3 weeks to go, and all seems to be going well. Baileys is happy enough, especially now she has been allowed on the bed in the mornings. It's surprising how bad her hearing becomes when she is lying down on the duvet - almost impossible to get a response from her at times...

Summer sunset at Newgale..

Sorting through more photos on the computer and though that a warming picture of the local beach with the sun going down might be just the tonic.

What was an unsurfaced carpark with a great view is now tarmac-ed and lined and will soon cost a few pounds a day to park in. Progress.

Still, a great beach any time of the year and I'll shortly put together a set of pictures of just Newgale.

More pictures of Baileys

So the weather is awful and I'm full of cold, so have been going through some photos and have put them here:- (click on the picture for the full set...)

As you can see, she isn't camera shy... We just know that some of her cuteness will follow in her pups. Only around 3 weeks before they arrive and chaos breaks out in the house. Baileys seems to be doing fine, although carrying her belly around is slowing her down and she's developed a bit of a waddle...
