proper dogs now?

A snap from the weekend. As you can see, the puppies have got some poise now. They can cover the ground pretty quickly, fight and bite, all in play so far.

Now that they are eating solid food, their weight gain has increased substantially. Mum still likes to be involved at mealtime, but can be more of a distraction than a help.

We've re-arranged the house twice over the weekend to give the puppies more room. They now have 2 large cages either end of one wall, with a 6' x 4' run in the middle.

Keeping track of where the puppies have gone is another challenge, behind furniture, curtains, computers etc. and when the time is right they fall asleep wherever they stop.

Baileys is great with her babies and Brandy stays well out of their way but Blue the cat has yet to decide how he'll deal with the pups. Most of the time he is fine, very tolerant and curious, but on Sunday morning a posse of pups had him backed up under a chair and eventually he came out fighting. Puppies scattered in all directions as he let them know who was boss...

this evening

From newgale - var...

A very fine sunset at newgale this evening. The above picture is as it was taken from the camera, no touching up or tweaking the colours. The Easter rush has passed and it was good to catch up with familiar faces in the pub.

The puppies are getting more like scaled down versions of proper dogs by the day. Great fun. They're getting much bigger too. need to add more pictures to the puppy albums...

Happy Easter

Mum and pups doing well. Their eyes are open and they're getting quicker... I'd say they are walking but it's more of a drunken stumble. A definite improvement on the turtle waddle though.

Its surprising how that now they've opened their eyes they look like "real puppies". The cream ones are mini andrex puppies, and the black ones are equally stunning.

Anyone with any tips on photographing black dogs??? They see to always disappear into the background. Of all the pictures we've taken, very few show how shiny and wavy the black dogs coats are.

A beautiful weekend. The roads are busy and the beaches are full. It looks as if the tourist season is off to a flyer. A shame the surf hasn't been better, but there were a few clean little ones yesterday morning.

The next stage to look forward to is weaning the pups off mum and onto food. I understand this is going to be messy!!! All good fun.

do you think they're growing??

What a difference 12 days makes...

The picture on the top was the first pup out, the picture on the bottom, one of the litter taken 12 days later. All the pups are growing well and should be opening their eyes in the next day or so. Their personalities are just starting to emerge. Some are more vocal than others, some sleep more, some wander off on their own.

Just when you think you've got some ideas what their coats will be like, they change, although one of the black girls seems to have tight curls...
